Paliative Care

This new type of care services aims at addressing the specific needs of
terminally ill patients and those of their families by addressing the
following needs:
- medical (symptom
control)
- emotionally
- socially
- physically
- spiritually
It represents an active and
comprehensive type of care for those patients whose illness does not respond
to traditional treatment anymore.

Jeanne Garnier sets up the first Care Center for terminally ill patients

Cicely Saunders (founder of St. Christopher’s Hospice, London)

1992 > Romania:
in Bucharest, the Romanian Association for Palliative Care is
established; Hospice of Hope, the first Center for Palliative Care
and Training is set up in Brasov

Care gains recognition as being a distinctive discipline by the
Romanian Ministry of Health and Family
